Although there are a lot of options, due to the simple gameplay and boss design, there ist little incentive to not keep using the same tactics for the entire game + Nice and unigue systems of character progression There's a traversable world map with the usual progression of ships and airships. Over the whole game you keep unlocking new gadgets to progress including bombs, a hookshot, a lighter etc. Cecilia uses classic spells learned at a specific shop where you trade in magic cards.Īside from the combat the game places a bigger emphasis on puzzles and actual dungeons. Jack learns special sword technigues based on story progression or optional events. Rudy uses modern weapons like rocket launchers or even laser guns that are found throughout the game. Thre game has a total of three party members, Rudy, Jack and Cecilia and each of them have their own way of learning new abilites. While itself pretty basic there are some interesting progression systems. Wild Arms uses a turn-based battle system with random encounters. The world itself is best described as a classic JRPG fantasy world with a touch of a wild west influence. Although the battles used full 3D graphics the overworld and exploration are in a classic 2D sprite style. The game precedes the JRPG Boom caused by Final Fantasy VII one year later. Wild Arms is a rather classic JRPG from 1996 developed by MediaVision and funded by Sony. I just wanted to give you my thoughts on this early PS1 title.
